Well we had our Ultra sound Monday night to find out the Gender or our baby. We were very excited with anticipation. So we are having a........baby girl! I am really excited and almost was leaning a little more towards a girl. I just think they are so cute when they are little.
It would have been fun to teach a little guy Motocross, Soccer and Snowboarding but that will just have to come next time. We are so excited!

My True Hero

I have been wanting to post this for over a month, but with my whole sickness with pregnancy I wasn't wanting to sit at a computer. So better now than never.

One day at church (I think it was when I was in the Single's Ward) we were asked who our true hero was. It didn't take me long to know who that person was. Her name is Shannon Cloward. She was my Young Women's President. She was the most amazing woman I have ever met. I feel so blessed to have gotten to know her so well.

She moved to Utah when I was in 6th grade. She was a single mother with 5 kids. Her 4th child had cerebral palsy. She was also diagnosed with breast cancer when she moved here. I became friends with her daughter when they moved here, but didn't really get to know Shannon until she was called to be our YW's President. Our bishop knew the challenges that she was going through and just knew she was suppose to be the YW President. She did an amazing job and her love for all of us was endless. She made it known to each of us how much she cared for us. She always wanted to know how we were doing and wanted us all to feel included together. I know she touched each and every one of us that were in Young Women's when she was President. Her love for us never stopped growing. She would always welcome us with a smile and a big hug when we would come back to visit and always said to come visit her whenever. She even threw bridal showers for us.

Shannon was a true inspiration. She went through life with so much joy and happiness. She took on her challenges in life with faith and never would stop moving forward. She ran several of marathons/races and took care of her son with cerebal palsy. Even though my challenges do not compare to hers, I look to her as a great example of conquering challenges with a smile and know that I am meant to have these challenges to strengthen me for who I am to become.

This summer she took a turn for the worse. Ben and I went to my Parent's ward's Pig Roast and saw her there. I was so happy that I was able to see her. She wasn't in the greatest conditions, but was there with a smile enjoying being there with all of her friends from the ward. And of course welcomed me with a big hug. In the fall she was told she only had a couple of months then it turned into a couple of weeks. She was able to spend Thanksgiving with most of her kids. She had one son on a mission in Scotland. Then on December 2nd she passed on to her Heavenly Father. She was the most amazing woman. Her faith and unconditional love will never be forotten. I hope to one day have as much strength that she had.

Her funeral was the most amazing funeral I have ever been to. It was full of wonderful stories of her. There was laughing and crying. She will be remembered by so many. We love you Shannon!

Brit worked at The Bird on Saturday and seeing that I am momentarily incapacitated I decided I would drive her up there and take in the sights. As most of you know it snowed last last week up in the mountains. I dropped Brit off and drive up to Alta. There were quiet a few people out enjoying the snow. I even saw a hand full of kids hitting a jump and jibbing a rail. It brought back memories of when we used to do the same thing as teenagers.

Is this Normal?

So some of you may know I crashed riding motocross. It happened Monday evening. I went to a local track and went off a jump that had some holes/bumps at the top. (kinda like this one but more just towards the top of the jump)

I got kicked sideways and crashed. It happened so fast but I immediately knew I had injured my knee. As I lay there I thought to myself, "I am done with this sport" and I just prayed to God that it wasn't anything major, but the pain initally was pretty intense.

The pain subsided and I was able to get in my truck and drive home. I went to the Dr the next day and we still aren't 100% sure what the plan of action will be (most likely surgery) but I did tear my MCL, PCL, and have a small fracture on my tibia.

And as Brit put it best "I don't know about this motocross thing, Ben", ya me either sweetie, me either.

A great weekend!

This weekend was crazy, but it was great!

Saturday we had our Primary Program Practice. The kids did pretty well for being there on a Saturday morning. After we gave them a pizza party that they earned. Each week in primary we had a jar and pom-poms. They had to fill the jar up. We would give them one for being reverent or helping us out. Also there is a challenge this year for primary. It is for the children to remember what they read in their scriptures that week and share it in primary. So we had bigger pom-poms for the children that would share that with us. We still had some pom-poms so I brought them in to the practice and they earned them by singing well. The pizza party went great. It was fun to be with the children outside on a Saturday. I had one girl hand me her ballerina barbie doll that had brown curly hair asking me if I could hold it for her while she played then let me know that I looked like her barbie. It was sweet. I had lots of little hugs and enjoyed every minute of the party. I am so thankful for my calling!

After the practice I went to a baptism for one of the boys in our primary. I love being able to go see the children be baptized. It is a great experience to share with them. Just another reason I am thankful for my calling. There are so many reasons! It can be stressful at times, but it is such a blessing.

That night was the general relief society meeting. It was amazing. I loved President Uchtdorf's talk!

Sunday we had our Sacrament Meeting Primary Program. It is crazy to have it done. It is a lot of work to put it together and I am so thankful for my wonderful counselors. As a presidency we all put it together. I really enjoyed doing it together. We asked most of the kids questions to get their parts. It was wonderful to here some of their answers. They answered in such sweet ways. We asked a cute little seven year old girl to explain the first vision she said: "Joseph Smith went to the woods and prayed. He saw the light which was Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They told him to join none of the churches." We added on he was chosen to restore the true church. I thought it was so sweet though just hearing her describe it. We asked our 4 and 5 year olds what the scriptures teach them and what scripture stories they liked. We asked the Sunbeams how they will follow God's plan. We asked another girl why she is thankful her dad has the priesthood. Another one I liked was we asked a seven year old boy who is favorite prophet was. He said: " Alma because he did bad then switched to good." Here are some more answers that I just want to share:

"I'm preparing to be baptized by getting a dress and saying my prayers. I'm excited because I will be following Jesus Christ's example."

"I'm preparing to be baptized by reading the scriptures and going to church. I'm excited because I will get the Holy Ghost."

"I treat my body like a temple of God when I eat healthy and exercise. I also dress modestly."

"I keep my mind pure and clean by reading good books and thinking good thoughts."

"I'm preparing for my mission by learning about the gospel, going to church and reading the scriptures."

"I can be a missionary now by telling my friends about the church and invite them to come with me to church activities."

"I can be a missionary now by reading my scriptures and inviting my nonmember friends to church."

"My favorite scripture story is Daniel and the lion's den because it teaches me that if we have faith and do what is right, the Lord will protect us."

"I am thankful for Joseph Smith because he helped restore our church."

"I am thankful for Joseph Smith because he told people to be good."

Children are so amazing. They are wonderful examples to us all. I'm so thankful to have this experience to serve with so many amazing children.

Our presentation was full. We had over 60 children do their parts and lots of songs. We did two songs with a group of girls singing the verses then everyone joined in to sing the chorus. One of those songs was We'll Bring the World His Truth. It is one of my favorite songs. One week while we were practicing songs we brought up the girls to the front to practice it. It was amazing the spirit was so strong and brought tears to my eyes. They sang it so well.

The program went great! I am thankful for all the wonderful helpers we have in Primary. After the bishop gave a few remarks and said it would be great to have a primary program quarterly and said he would talk to us to see if that would be possible. We just laughed. It would be great to have one quarterly if someone else would put it together :)

And that is why it was such a great weekend!

2 Years!

I know that two years isn't very long, but it is crazy that it has already been two years. September 18th was our anniversary.

Our actual anniversary was on a Sunday so we celebrated Saturday night. We decided not to do much since we had just gone to California in August, so we went to Christopher's downtown for a yummy steak dinner.

Married life can be quite crazy sometimes. It definetly has its ups and downs, but I love it. I love being with my best friend and being able to learn more about him. Even his sarcasm :) It has been a great two years and I look forward for the many years to come.

Once again it's been a while since we have updated and once again I will let pictures do most of the talking. Its been a very busy past month as Brit and I gone to Seven Peaks, Lagoon, California for 6 days and some other randoms. In Cali we stayed with Brits Uncle Mike (In LaDera Ranch) and had a great time. We even played about 60 games of tennis and it was fun getting back into that sport. Thanks Mike and Tiffany!

These aren't in chronological order so here goes.

We are finishing our basement but we had this hideous light fixture in our entry way so we decided to replace it yesterday.

Brit's b-day was August 13th and we decided to do som....Just kidding sweetie, August 11th and she had been wanting a Book Case for a while so I bought and stayed up late to put it together. It came pretty well if I do say so myself. Just call me Tim tool time from now on.

Lagoon, This ride is so lame, it's so outdated and NOT scary. (Although I am really looking forward to going back to this is the state park haunted village)

So. Cal!

Brit and I flew out on a Tuesday night. Brit saw this doughnut shop and wanted to take a picture. She said it was in some movie. Can you guess which one?

We went to Disneyland on Thursday which was a good day to go because the crowds weren't horrible. Although the temps were hot for Cali we had a great time.

Last year when we went to Cali we went to Knotts Berry Farm. Not to ride the rides but to eat at their restaurant and partake of their Delicious Chicken Dinner. We decided to go back and I am glad we did. The meal is great and I love their Boysenberry Punch and Pie. (I believe Knotts Berry Farm invented the Boysenberry)

We went to a beach close to Brit's Uncle house (where we stayed). I had never been to that beach but it was very nice and clean.

I am sure Brit will kill me for putting up this picture but I like it.

We also went boating on lake Elsinore with Uncle Mike. Brit doesn't get in the water too often so she got up on the wakeboard and I had to take a picture.

Saturday we cruised down to San Diego. We went straight to temple to do a session. We didn't make in into the session we wanted because there were too many people and we didn't get a seat so we opted to do sealings. It's a beautiful Temple both inside and out.

Right after the Temple we went to the San Diego Zoo. I thought it would be fun to go and I have always heard it is the Zoo of Zoo's in the U.S.

These Tortoises were huge! They were like 100 years old.

Giraffe's are cool. they had a time were you could go back and feed them a few biscuits. We went back but the had already sold out of them, darn.

Uncle Mike recommended we go to a Ice cream Sandwich shop right by UCLA. We went by and I am glad we did, they make home made cookies and you pic the ice cream. The best part was it was only $1.50! Music to my ears.

We also went to Hollywood. We walked around the famous walk of stars street and can you believe it we also saw Lady Gaga, Batman, and Samuel L Jackson! But come to find they were just Star Look A likes on the street posing for pictures and stuff :(

The Kodak Theatre where they have plays, awards shows and were currently holding a Cirque De Soliel performance.

We had a Trujillo Family Reunion at the Dyers. I remember having the pretty often growing up but hadn't had them in recent years. We put it together pretty quick but it was great to see that side of the family!

We volunteered with Richard up at Snowbird for the last stage of the Tour of Utah. It was pretty fun awesome to see those amazing athletes. The Tour De France winner Cadel Evans was even on hand to take in the sights.

Family Happenings/4th Of July

The weekend of the 4th was a busy one for us as I am sure it was for many of you.

Brittany's sister Melanie was in town from New York so we spent some time up in Sandy. The morning of the 4th my buddy Travee and I had planned for a few weeks to go snowboarding up at Snowbird since they were still open. We also took in the Granite parade, went water skiing and had a fire works show in the Grossens Cul de Sac. It was a great 4th and I think it is my top 2 fav holidays.

I wanted to put some more pictures and stories in of while my Sister Melanie was in town. We had a blast while they were here. My niece and nephew went tubing and had a blast they were on the tube for over a half hour. It was fun to watch them.

It made them pretty tired

Growing up we always had a neighborhood breakfast at our church. Then there is a parade. Kids the night before would decorate their bikes it was a pretty short parade. Since then it has grown to become an hour long parade full of fun cars, floats, and bikes. I love that it is still going and that I am able to go and see some of my friends that I grew up with. There are also a couple of home made trains. They had one of them at the carnival and my niece and nephews loved riding it.

Richard rented a popcorn and cotton candy maker. They were both a hit.
Also another old tradition in our neighborhood was resurrected by my dad this year. Back when I was younger my parents rented a popcorn and a cotton candy machine. Our neighborhood was full of kids and we all gathered in the circle in front of our house. Neighbors would bring other goodies and lots of fireworks. We loved it. Once we got older the numbers slimmed down so it stopped and I'm so glad we did it again. There are a lot more new kids in their neighborhood and it was a blast! Thanks Dad!

I had a pair of firework glasses and decided to give it to my niece and nephews to try it out. They loved them.

It was a lot of fun having my whole family together again for the Fourth of July. It has been a long time!

That next weekend we stayed in a house by Jordanelle. This house was amazing. It had three floors and had an elevator. The kids loved it. One day I saw my nephew run on to it by himself so I quickly ran on to it with him so he wouldn't be alone. I was holding my 10 month old niece and my other niece got on as well. When the elevator moves you can barely feel it. So we were on it for awhile. The elevator has two doors that open and my nephew was getting so excited to see what door was going to open. I sat there for awhile and discovered it wasn't going to open, we were stuck. I have always had a fear of being stuck in an elevator. Well this didn't help having 3 kids in it with me. I'm just glad I saw him get on it and he wasn't by himself stuck. I started knocking on the sliding door hoping someone would hear me. No one did I pushed the alarm button and they didn't hear that. Nice alarm! I then slid open the sliding door and there we were stuck in between floors. My nephew started walking out and I stopped him and he then realized we couldn't get out I started knocking on both doors and my nephew started crying. I probably wasn't much help, when I was screaming help! The doors lock when the elevator is going. Luckily I found an emergency latch and my sister opened the door and laughed when she saw us at a different level. I handed the kids down and got off. I'm glad we weren't stuck for long.

On Saturday we went to Park City. We went on the Alpine Coaster. Watched my niece and nephew jump on the tramps. My niece even did a couple of back flips. We also had some lunch and did the Alpine Slide as well. It was a fun day!

My family loves playing games. So at night we all got together and played some fun games.

It was a lot of fun having my Sister in town! Some other things we did while she was here: We went to the church museum, they have a fun new kids section and the kids had a blast! We went to Cowabunga Bay, just hung around my parent's yard while the kids played with the slip 'n' slide and some other fun water toys. It was a blast! Love you Herways! Can't wait to see you again soon. Hopefully we can make it out to Jersey soon.

4th of July at the Bird

It turned out way funner than I expected and we had a good time! Now I can say I have snowboarded on the 4th of July in Utah. In a week I can say I have snowboarded on the 24th too. (At Mt hood)

Also another story. For awhile now we have been wanting to go do a session at the Salt Lake Temple. I haven't done a session there yet and have been wanting to. We had been talking about it a lot and finally went. As we pull up to the under ground parking lot we see a bright yellow sign. And on that sign it says Temple Closed. We were both bummed. So we decided since we had already drove there we might as well walk around. It has been awhile since I have walked through the visitor's center. It is great and we want to go back soon! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was practicing so we went in. Our last Single's Ward Bishop's wife is in it and we spotted her out. So even though the temple was closed it was still a great night! Hopefully we can make it back soon when the Temple is open.

The Garden is coming along pretty well. For dinner tonight I decided to make a fresh salad from the Spinach we are growing. Yum.

El Jardin (The Garden)

Brit and I started our Garden a few weeks ago. With all of the rain and cold temps lately it has been slow going, but I think this week things are going to change for the better as the mercury should start climbing.
Although it has been nice not having to water anything but I am no doubt ready for summer and better weather. I really enjoy working in the yard (I think I got it from my mom) and I hope our sweat yields many fruits (Or Veggies).

Las Vegas

Brit and I went to Las Vegas this past weekend. The weather was awesome and we had a great time. We arrived down there Thursday night pretty late. My brother in law (Trav) and I went on a Mtn bike ride in St George Friday morning and we had a great time. Later int he day we sat around the pool then showered and went out to dinner with Travs parents to Pizza Factory. We met up with Alyssa (Brits cousin) for dinner too. We ate and had a wonderful time. We had some custard and hit the sack for the night.

We had a great time and it was fun to go on a little vacation in the sun with my wifey.

Ben forgot to add the most important part of the supercross! :) Yes Villopoto did win the whole supercross, but we can't forget about Chad Reed who won that night! He has been my favorite since I began watching moto races. Ben thinks I just like him because Reed and Stewart are enemies and Stewart is Ben's favorite, but that is not true!

New Callings

Well I have told this story to most, but I want to post it to remember it and also for those who don't know yet. So here it is....

Last Tuesday was just a normal day. I was at work and got off at nine. I got home and Ben said he had called me a couple times. I asked him why and he said our Bishop had come over earlier to meet with us and asked if they could come back when I got home. So he was calling to let me know. I was kind of confused to why they wanted to come over. I thought since a new Bishopric had just been called that they wanted to just come to meet us. And I have always gone to the church to get a new calling. I didn't know they went into homes to do that. So I didn't think much of it. They said they would come at 9:45. Ten came around and I didn't think they would come over anymore. A few minutes later the Bishop called to see if it was ok to still come over. They asked how we were doing and if we enjoyed the ward. Then he said "Well it is getting late so I will get to the point". He released us from our callings as Primary CTR 6 teachers. We love our class and I was pretty sad to hear we were being released. He first gave Ben his new calling. He is now a ward missionary. He will be great at it. Then he was about to give me mine when he asked us if we had been to Stake Conference that Sunday. Ben and I looked at each other and laughed a little and said no and told him we had gone to hear his Sister talk. So the Bishop told us that they called our Primary President to be the Stake Primary President. So I was thinking oh I will probably be a counselor in the presidency. Then he said we would like to call you to be the new Primary President. I was shocked for a minute. I love working with kids so I gladly accepted. I know how hard the calling is and how much work goes into it. So I just kept thinking am I capable of doing this? After they had left so many things were running through my head. Of course the first thing Ben says to me is "Oh President Trujillo". We read scriptures then I tried to go to bed. I couldn't because so many things were going through my head. So I went and watched TV. I finally went in to bed around 2 and still couldn't fall asleep. When I did fall asleep I had a dream about it. Since we have been in Primary most of the time in the ward, I don't know a lot of people. The Bishop gave me some suggestions for my counselors that night and told me he would call me on Thursday night. For those two days I did not stop thinking about it. I was able to go to the Temple on Thursday and I am so glad that I went. Later that night he called me and we decided on my counselors. I don't know them very well, but I have seen them and I can tell they are great from what I have seen from them. I'm excited to work with them and get to know them better. I am thankful for this new calling and I know I will learn a lot from it and I look forward to be around the kids more. They have such sweet spirits. I have always loved serving in the Primary. And I have had a very good feeling about this calling since I got it. It brings a smile to my face knowing that I am trusted to lead these children. I love the children I have been able to teach and look forward to working with all of them again and getting to know the other ones as well. I am thankful to my ward for sustaining me. It meant a lot. My first counselor emailed me when she found out and told me she gladly accepted and that meant a lot to me. I know I have great counselors. I did sharing time and enjoyed it. I was pretty nervous and being Easter I didn't have all the help I could have which is completely understandable. It was a challenge and I am thankful for it. After church our last Bishop's daughter came up to me and asked how long I was going to be in Primary. I told her I wasn't sure. She then told me that if anyone ever laughs at me to just ignore it. She said that she always wants to yell at them telling them that it is rude and that we are new and are getting use to things. She was sweet. She is around ten years old. I thanked her for understanding. I am also thankful to some of the ward members who came and congratulated me and told me I would be great. Our Relief Society President came in, our recent Primary President gave me a hug and said I would be great and was excited for me. Her husband told me that he taught his class and asked them how they would feel to be called to be Primary President on Easter Sunday? He said he knew he wouldn't be able to do it. That made me laugh. Also I am thankful for our Bishop. He is a great guy and has given me a lot of support letting me know that I will do great. I am so thankful for this calling and know I will enjoy it!

Well Easter has come and gone and it was great. We first celebrated Easter a couple weeks ago with my family. We first had dinner. My mom made a whole turkey and ham there was a lot of food! And of course it was delicious!

Well my last post I tried to upload a video of my nephew Jack being trained to pick up the eggs, but it didn't work :( . Jack was pretty excited and he did go for an egg at first, but realized it was money not candy and he saw all the other candy laying around. So he went for that. Maybe next year Dan :)
Well there was snow on the ground so we had to do it indoors. My mom hid the eggs on the main level and the upstairs. Us kids always get pretty into it knowing there is always money in the eggs. So I imagine we are pretty funny to watch. We like to push each other around and my brother always seems to push me into a door when we do it indoors. It is pretty hilarious. We had a blast! We all thought we were done until we looked through our eggs, but my mom said we still hadn't found the golden egg so we all went charging. Ethan was the lucky one! Go E! She also hid the movie Tangled for each family to have. I love our tradition. Ben was pretty mean this year he would find an egg then take the money out and hide the egg again. We then frosted sugar cookies of course and had dessert. I wasn't able to get pictures, but it was a great night thanks mom!

Not this past Sunday, but the Sunday before, Ben's sister Jen gave a talk in their Sacrament Meeting. We were having Stake Conference so we decided to just go to hear her speak instead. She did a great job. After church we went up to the Dyer's. I played some basketball with my nephews and Ben. We played lightning. It had been a long time since I played that. It was a lot of fun. We had dinner with the family then my dad came over to make sugar Easter eggs. That was my Grandma Grossen's tradition and it had been a long time since I had done one and I'm glad we were able to. It brought back a lot of memories of her. The kids had fun decorating their eggs. And we really enjoyed it.

On Saturday we got together with our friends Jess and Josh. We decided to dye Easter Eggs. It had been awhile since I had done that. It is fun to do traditions you haven't done for awhile. We had fun and we all got pretty creative. Thanks Josh and Jess for having us over!

Easter Sunday we went up to Layton to celebrate with Ben's family. When we got there the kids had to do their egg hunt. They are pretty fun to watch. And it turned out to be great weather when it was suppose to be a stormy day. We were thankful for that. After they found their eggs we had dinner. We had ham, potatoes, veggies, and a delicious bread bunny. Then the kids went out and hid our eggs. They were pretty excited to do that. They did pretty well. They also have a golden egg in the Easter Egg Hunt and it was the last one to find as well. We had to play hot and cold for it. It ended up being in the cable box. I lifted it up and saw it in there and did not want to put my hand down there. Trav went for it. I love Easter and all it's traditions, but I'm thankful to know the reason we do celebrate. I'm thankful for Christ's crucifixion and I know he was resurrected and know that we will be resurrected as well. I love having Easter and Christmas to focus more on Christ. Then we played some Minute to Win it games. I don't think I could ever be on that show. Both times that we have played those games I didn't do very well, but I had a blast. It is fun to watch everyone else do it as well. We also did a relay carrying an egg in our spoons. That was fun. It was a great day. Thanks for such a great day!

April has been a good month so far. The only thing that could make it better is the weather :( I feel like we have gotten more snow this month than we did in January. I'm just hoping it doesn't last. I'm ready for some warm sunny days!

Well we started the month with Ben's mission reunion. His mission president is from Columbia. He is in the quorum of the seventy so he has been able to come to Salt Lake which makes it a great opportunity to have a mission reunion. This was the second time for me to go to his reunion. Everyone was speaking Spanish. I could pick out a few things, but I don't know much. Ben's mission president told Ben that he needed to translate for me. It is great to be able to meet the people Ben served with and his President and Family. His President is a great guy and I am so glad I have been able to meet him. The reunion was at one of the Elder's homes. They had Mexican food of course. The meat was delicious. Then we sat around and went around having everyone say what is going on in their life. Then the President talked for awhile. It was a great night and even though I didn't know what anyone was saying I enjoyed it. I look forward to the next reunion.

That weekend was General Conference weekend. Saturday was not a very busy day up at the Spa so I was able to watch/listen to all but one talk. I was thankful for that. I enjoyed every talk. One of my favorites was Henry B. Eyring's it was on Service. He mentioned the primary song: "Have I Done Any Good In The World Today" I love that song and think of it often. He spoke on how the Lord provides ways for us to help. We always have sympathy for those in need of help and we need to turn it into an act of service. Take the opportunity whenever and wherever it happens. I loved that and just wanted to re-share it :) That night during priesthood I went with my in-laws to Thanksgiving Point for a girl's night. We first did some shopping then ate at their cafe. Their food is delicious. Then we stopped at Ikea for some cinnamon rolls. It was a fun night! Thanks for inviting me! Sunday was great as well. We were able to go watch at Ben's sister's house. It was a great day. And I would re-share it all! I'm grateful for those who spoke and know they were all prompted to speak on what we needed to hear.

After conference we went over to my parent's for dinner. Dinner as always was delicious. We teased this little girl for awhile. She is a cutie. Like her brother at the same age would make this squished face when the orange light on the camera would go on. I didn't get a good one of it, but she is adorable and I love her.Well my mom is going to be in New York with my sister and her family for Easter so we are having Easter Sunday at my parent's tonight. So last week my nephew was playing with toys and some of the toys my mom has is play food and in there is some plastic eggs. In the easter eggs is cash instead of money. My mom told my brother that Jack gets a head start. So he decided he needed to train him on how to get the eggs fast. I got some good videos of it. They are below and we will see if his training worked. I will post soon about our Easter at the Grossen's.

So we decided to paint our bedroom. It was somewhat of a tough week and I thought the busy work would kick up the endorphins and keep us busy with something fun. Here are before and after pictures. We bought paint and supplies at Lowes. When we got the first coat on we realized it was too flat and we wanted more of a gloss finish so back to Lowes we go. We got a Satin finish this time and we think it came out great!

Herways in Town

A couple weeks ago my sister Melanie and her family came into town. It was a blast having them here. It had been fourteen months since we had seen them. That is way too long to go with out seeing them! On President's Day Melanie and Jake took Rachel skiing for her first time. She loved it. While they were gone I helped watch Tommy and baby Kate. I am so glad I finally got to meet her. She is adorable. We helped Tommy build this and it brought back lots of memories playing with it.

He loved getting up on the chair and making the marble go. He is such a fun kid and his personality cracks me up!

My niece Rachel. I can't believe how fast she is growing. She is a great reader and is super smart. I love her little personality. I have great nieces and nephews.

That night we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We got to sit with this silly kid. He would give us some dirty looks then just start laughing. He was our entertainment for the night.

They left for a few days up to Driggs to be with Jake's family. They got back on Friday and we had our traditional New Years Eve Dinner (a little later in the year). We brought our waffle cone maker and made some for the family. Melanie and Sophie watching.

On Saturday Rachel and Tommy were sick. So we just hung out and watched the BYU basketball game. Then that night we went to Cafe Rio for dinner then to Dan and Amy's to hang out. We played Wits and Wagers it was a fun game. Then we played Just Dance. That was a lot of fun and hilarious. It was fun to watch my brother compete against my sister. I went up against Jake and had a blast. He has got some good dance skills. It was a fun night to be able to all hang out.
Then Sunday we had a dinner and the best part of dinner was Jake's AMAZING mashed potatoes! :)
Monday was "Fun" Day according to Rachel. We went to Provo to see my Grandma Pett. She was excited to see the Herway clan. The kids loved playing up in her play room. Then we headed to Brick Oven. I love that place. Their pizza is the best. Everything about that place is great!
I love my nephews and it was so fun to see them play with each other!

After lunch we headed to see Carl Bloch's museum. It was great. He was an amazing artist. I wish I could paint like that. Then we headed to the BYU creamery. We had to stop there of course. You can't go down there and not get their ice cream.
Then we went to a place that use to be called incredible pizza, but is no longer called that and I can't remember what it was changed to. The kids played some miniature bowling, mini golf, and rode on the go-karts. They had a blast and it was fun to watch them.

It definitely was a "fun" day!

Tuesday before I had to go to work I went up to my parent's to hang out with them. It was a beautiful day so we decided to build a snowman. Tommy ended up just wanting to drive Lightning McQueen. He is great!

It has been a long time since I have built a snowman. It was fun to do it again. I think it turned out great, but he didn't last very long being it a nice day and all. He already lost a blueberry eye by the time we got a group photo with him.

That night we just sat around and chatted. Mel and I watched Jake and our mom play Jenga the wrong way. It was pretty funny. Then we played some Blokus. I love my family and wish my sister and her family could live closer, but it sure is fun when they come and visit. They are great and a lot of fun to be around.

Oquirrh Mtn Temple Cleaning

Last week I signed us up to clean the temple. I had totally forgot about until yesterday morning when Brit reminded me it was going to be that night. We had to be there at 9:45 and worked until Midnight. We went and we both had such a good time. We wore white scrubs that they provided to us and Brit looked so pretty. We go to vacuum the Celestial Room and Hallways, wipe down the chairs in the endowment rooms and a few other things. I really enjoyed it and I couldn't help but think that is what I hope life is like after death; working side by side with my beautiful wife in the Temple wearing white.

WOW a lot has happened since our last post. Where do I start; My Birthday, Christmas, New Years, Portland.....

BASEMENT

We decided to finish our basement with Richards help, although is has been a slow process. We aren't in any hurry to finish it up quick so it suits us just fine.
Done: Tape and Mud in one room, frame around pipes in corner of Ping Pong room, frame around one side of beam.
Still to do: Frame, tape and mud, Sheetrock, paint, can lights, carpet, etc.

Dance

Brit has gotten back into dance which I think is great. I have been wanting her to get back into it for some time since she talks about it so much. She finally took the plunge and she has been having a good time with it. She has a performance sometime in the summer so I will keep you all posted so you can come watch her do her herky's (the only dance move I know) and whatnot.
I think it is good for everyo9ne to have something to do to have a release from normal mundane life.

Birthday

So sometime I will give Brit crap because I am always claiming she can't surprise me.......Boy did she get me this year. I thought she would maybe have something up her sleeve for my birthday but I was talking to a friend and he said he had plans with his family on my B-day. I thought if Brit was going to pull something she would have invited him.
She said we were just going to go out to eat with another couple (Jen and Jeff) and have a nice night out. We walked downstairs to leave and...."Surprise" shouted everyone hiding in the basement. She sure did get me, I didn't suspect anything. Thanks Sweetie, Love you. And thanks to all of my great friends that came and helped out.

Miller Autobiography "Driven" (just to name a few). I actually only have about 10 pages left and it is a great book, Larry Miller did so much for the state of Utah it's amazing!

Next up was Portland! We flew up there on Thursday night. Jen and Jeff also joined us which was cool since they got on our same flights there and back.

We rode Mt. Hood on Monday. It was pretty fun and the snow was pretty good.

We went out to a pretty good Mexican restaurant that had live music, it was pretty fun.

Rachel had heard of a pretty famous doughnut shop downtown called Voodoo Doughnut shop so we went to check it out. I guess their big hit is a Bacon Maple Bar. Yes that's right I said bacon and maple bar in the same sentence.

While downtown we also went to a Chinese Garden that had free admission due to it being the 15 days of the Chinese new year. This year is the year of the Rabbit. It was right downtown and a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets.

The flight home went fairly well. Here the boys are and they couldn't be more content. Parker did pretty well for the most part and i would say it was successful plane ride.

Every year that Sister Christoffersen has time, she builds a very extravagant gingerbread house and donates it to The Festival of Trees. We swung by one Sunday evening and checked this years masterpiece out. She did a great job!

The other night we had a group date with some friends and we ended up making a ginger bread house with everyone. It was a good time and here are some photos.

Josh brought out his level to make sure she would pass inspection, Josh gives his approval that it would in fact be good to go and I imagine sit on this current house market for months on end....

My mom and I got to go skiing at Deer Valley with Richard, Brooke and Ethan. It was a fun time and I am glad I got to go with my mom since she is the one that taught me to ski many moons ago. Thanks a ton Richard for hookin it up. Deer Valley is a high roller place to ski.

I recently went to Zion National Park about 45 mins NE from St George to hike The Subway. I went with my father in law, and 2 of Brittany's cousins. We had a great time and it was awesome to see the unbelievable scenery we have in our fantastic state.

Our Trip To Not So Sunny California

On Sunday we got back from our trip to California. Even though we didn't get much sun we still had a lot of fun! I flew there last Tuesday with my mom, my sister Brooke and her husband Ethan. Ben met up with us a day later. Tuesday night we ate at Panera. So yummy! I love their sandwiches and soup! Then we did some grocery shopping then went to our hotel. The next morning we woke up and headed to Disneyland! Here are Brooke, my mom and I in front of the Disneyland entrance. Out of the many times that we have been to Disneyland we had never been during Halloween. It was fun. It was nice too since all the kids were in school and the weather wasn't the warmest it made the lines a lot shorter!

Brooke wanted to go on the teacup ride. So she got my mom and I to go with her. Ethan isn't a big fan of rides that spin you. My mom went only if we didn't make it spin more. She did the bad thing on the ride to tell us we could spin it for a little bit. I think we were all pretty dizzy after.

And of course we had to go on It's A Small World. They put Disney Characters in it. So it was a little different than the last time I went.

For Halloween Disneyland changes a couple of rides. Space Mountain had a ghost in it. And the best is the Haunted Mansion. They decorate the outside and the entire inside of the ride to be Nightmare Before Christmas. It is so cool. They leave it like that all the way through Christmas. I can't imagine how much time it takes them to decorate the inside.

And of course we had to get a picture in front of the castle. They now have the inside open for people to walk through. It was pretty much just walking through the movie. It was pretty cool to walk through.

They have the Mickey Mouse Jack-O-Lantern in front of Main Street. They also had Jack-O-Lanterns inside of the windows on Main Street it was pretty cool.

The first day we did most of the rides at both Disneyland and California Adventure. It was so nice to have short lines and be able to just walk on some of them. It was a great day and we ate lots of junk food. After we went and picked Ben up at the airport.
The second day we mainly just did the rides that we wanted to do again.

In Frontier Land they had a bunch of pumpkins carved. These pumpkins are pretty amazing so I had to take pictures.

Thunder Mountain!

Even though it wasn't very warm we had to go on Splash Mountain! I loved the picture they took of us so I had to take a picture of it. Ben asked me if my face was fake. I thought that was pretty funny. For having gone on that ride several times I know exactly when they take the picture so it is fun to pull faces on the rides that take pictures. I think Ben's face is pretty great too.

Brooke and I wanted to go on the swings again. She convinced Ethan to come on by saying they had a tandem swing so they could go together, but those were for parents to sit with their kids on it. So they weren't able to sit on one together. I don't think he enjoyed going on it.

Near the end of the night Ben wanted to get ice cream that he kept seeing everyone eat. We both got one and ate it right before dinner which was not the best idea.

After we went and got our dinner that we had reserved to get a good spot to watch their new World of Color show. It was a great show. I can't even imagine how they put that all together. Disneyland is amazing! We had a great time at Disneyland and California Adventure. California Adventure has a lot of new things coming. They are building a Cars Land that will be open in 2012 and they will have something like the test track in Epcot we will have to go back for that. They are also finally making a Little Mermaid ride. We had lots of churros and other goodies! We also saw Chad Michael Murray with his wife in front of Tower Of Terror. Ben was the one who spotted him. He had his hat pretty low so it took me awhile to recognize him. He walked past us and I got a closer look. I use to love the show that he starred in One Tree Hill. That is the closest I have ever come to a celebrity. We watched the Pixar parade, rode all the rides that we wanted to. It was great. That is the perfect time to go to Disneyland!

The next day we drove the Pacific Coast Highway to some of the piers. We first stopped at Huntington Beach to watch some of the surfers.

Our main destination was the Santa Monica Pier. Which took us a lot longer to get there than we thought, but it was fun. We ate lunch there then my mom wanted to take us all on these bumper cars. I had never been on this kind of a bumper car. It was pretty fun. And we were the only ones on it and had a blast. The guy running it didn't have anyone else in line and when he stopped us we were all bummed it was over so he let us go again for free.

Brooke wanted to take pictures of us doing cartwheels. It had been awhile since I had done a cartwheel, but she got a good picture on her camera that I don't have.

After we headed back to our hotel. We had been in the car for a long time. Brooke started singing Gilligan's Island theme song. Since it felt like we went on a three hour tour. We hit rush hour on the way back so it made it for a longer trip. We were glad to get back. We also had bought some bread, fruit, and chips and salsa at a street market at Huntington beach. So we went to the grocery store and got stuff to make sandwiches and milkshakes and had dinner at the hotel. It was great. Then we watched a movie Brooke rented from the library called Scoop. I had never heard of it, but I loved it. It was a great day!
The next day we had plans to meet up with a girl Ben baptized, but they weren't able to get a car to come meet us. So we went to Balboa Island and Newport Beach. We took the ferry to Balboa Island. That was a pretty short ferry ride. We walked around and went in to a museum. That was pretty fun. Then we got doughnuts from a place my mom loves. They were pretty delicious. We ate at some Mexican Restaurant that was close by and they had great food. Then we sat on the beach for awhile. It was one of the nicer days. So the sun was out for awhile which was great to sit on the beach!

We also rented bikes for an hour. That was fun to ride by all the beach houses and along the beach. We rode past the beach house that we stayed at when I was younger. It was fun to see it again.

After we stopped at a couple places then headed to the hotel to watch the sunset. Ben and I went and sat in the hot tubs. After I was pretty tired so I just wanted to relax. My mom and I played a couple games of Bananagrams then Ben found Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead on tv so we watched that. Sunday we had check out at 10 so we packed up and headed out. We first stopped at Panera then headed to Downtown Disney to walk around some of their stores. Then my mom wanted to take us to Knott's Berry Farm for their famous chicken dinner. The meals are huge so we shared. It comes with soup, salad, biscuits, mashed potatoes, corn, four pieces of chicken, and a choice of dessert. The man who owned Knott's Berry Farm invented Boysenberries. So we had boysenberry punch and boysenberry sherbet. Everything was delicious! Then we walked around all of their stores. While walking through one of the stores Ben got a voice mail saying our flight was delayed. Our original flight was at 6 the new time was 7:45. So we decided to go to another beach. We decided to go to Long Beach since it was pretty close to the airport. We had never been there before and I don't think we will be back again. So we headed to the airport early. It was a great trip and was very nice to get away for a few days. We had a blast! Thanks mom for planning a great vacation!

I love Halloween and all the fun things you can do. On the 16th we had our ward Halloween Carnival/Chili cook off. I signed up to bring some chili. I made some that was pretty simple in my crock pot. A couple days before they asked if we would be willing to be in charge of a booth. So when we got there the Primary President found us pretty fast and put us at the Fishing Pond booth. So I am sad to say I didn't even get to try my chili, but I had a lot of fun at our booth. It was fun to see everyone in their costumes, especially our primary kids. We love our class and I am sad we won't have them for much longer. Ben and I also dressed up. Ben was a soccer player and I had a black cape so I kind of dressed as a witch. I really like our ward and had a fun time being able to celebrate with them. Also that night was when we went to This Is The Place park which we already posted about. That was a lot of fun.

Last night we celebrated with Ben's Family. We went up to Layton after work and played some Bingo for some Halloween Goodies. Then we had some yummy soup and other delicious food. Then we picked our pumpkins and carved them. Ben had a hard time deciding what to do, and wasn't too satisfied with his end result. I like it though.

This is the place haunted Village

Last night we went on a group date to This is the place state park. They have a haunted village there. We ended up going with a big YSA group from a few singles ward. There were a lot of singles and we blended right in. Actually at one point I asked someone there a question and ended it with "well with my wife and I, oh I mean my girlfriend and I....."
At any rate it was fun and well worth the discounted ticket of $4. Thanks YSA!
Anyways, it was really fun and Brit screamed really loud a few times, after a while we moved to the back of our group cause she didn't want to be at the front anymore. I would for sure recommend it to anyone, well worth it and really fun.

Our Anniversary, Jack's Birthday, and Stacy's Soccer Game

Well September 18th was our one year anniversary. I still can't believe we have been married that long! It sure went fast. We decided to do a little getaway up in Park City. We first headed to the outlets. We mainly just walked around and Ben exchanged a jacket. Then we headed to our hotel. We stayed at the Park City Marriott. It was a nice place. We relaxed for awhile. Then decided to head to the Olympic Park. I had never been there. We sat for awhile and watched some people go off the ski jump into the pool. It was pretty cool to watch. I don't know how they swim with their skis on!

Then we decided to go on the zip line. It was pretty fun. I'm not the biggest fan of heights so I was a little nervous, but I enjoyed it. It goes by quickly. Next time I think I would rather go on the Alpine Slide there.

After we went up to Main Street and walked around for awhile.
Then we went to dinner. Of course we brought our Happenings book and found a restaurant on Main Street. It was Taste Of Saigon. A Vietnamese place. It was really good and I really enjoyed it. The next day we got some breakfast and walked around main street again. There was a little street fair with food and other little booths. It was fun to walk around and see what each little booth had. It was a great little getaway and we had a lot of fun. I love being married to Ben and look forward to the years that come!

September 29th was my nephew Jack's second Birthday! I can't believe he is already two. My parent's got him this truck. My mom and I put it together the night before. What a project! It took us two hours to put it together. I don't know if I will ever want to put one together again. Next time I will leave it to the men. I was glad though to be able to help my mom and to see how much Jack loved it. He is so cute.

Amy made these cute Monkey Cupcakes. She is great at making Jack's Birthday cakes! Jack loves monkeys and all other animals. He is pro at making animal noises and I love hearing him do it.

On October 9th we decided to go see my cousin Stacy's soccer game at BYU. It was after the football game and we decided to get something to eat down there and luckily we beat the football crowd. Then we headed to the soccer field. Stacy is great at soccer. I loved watching her. Hopefully next year we can make it to some more games! They played Air Force and won 2-1. It was a great game and we had a lot of fun! Love ya Stacy!

Well next week we will be going to California to go to Disneyland and the Beach! I'm so excited and so ready for a vacation! And I'm sure I will post everything about it!

September So Far...

...we have had four weddings, two new nieces born, a Grossen Family BBQ for my cousin Travis who just left for his mission, another family BBQ with Ben's family while his brother Andy was in town, boating, and have fit lots of other things in there as well.

On September 9th my friend Carly who I grew up with in my neighborhood got married in the Salt Lake Temple. I was so glad that I was able to go to her sealing. They had a great sealer, and it was wonderful to see how happy she is. I took this picture of the temple while waiting for them to come out and loved how it turned out.

When coming out of the temple she tripped, that is why she is a little red in this picture.

The newly married couple with Carly's son Ender. He was so cute in his little blue suit. He was pretty anxious to see mommy. Andy is so great with him and will be a great dad for Ender. I'm so happy for them all.

They did a wedding dinner that night in his parent's backyard. It was beautiful, but just a little freezing. It was a great day and I'm glad I was able to be a part of the whole day with her.

On September 10th our friends Katie and Jake from the singles ward got married in the Draper Temple.

It was a great day and very busy we also had Ben's old co-workers wedding. We barely made it to their reception that night. It is a popular month for weddings this year.

On September 10th my brother and his wife had their little girl. Sophie Darlene Grossen. We weren't able to go see her at the hospital since we had two receptions that night, but we were able to go see her the next night at their home. She is so adorable and looks a lot like her big brother Jack. I was so glad we were able to go see her and I loved holding her. I can't wait to see her again! Also on September 3rd my sister Melanie had her baby girl. Katelyn Ann Herway. They live in New York so we have only seen pictures, but she is adorable and I can't wait to meet her!

Last night we made a quick decision with my dad to go boating. So we headed to Utah Lake. I am so glad we went. It has been a long time since I have gone boating with him. I wish we could go more. I love just being on the boat. So I let the boys do the playing.

My dad has a secret spot which he calls mud lake because it is so shallow, and to get there we have to go through these:

My dad is an amazing water skier! And he loves it. I got a ton of pictures of him! So I couldn't choose which ones to show. So I put a lot on.

It was such a great night. The water was glass and the sunset was so pretty. So of course I had to take some pictures of it. I think I get the photo happiness from my dad :)

And did barefooting on the barefoot boom. It is really hard to do. You start by being kind of dragged then you have to bring your feet around and stand up. Ben did great for his first time and I think he really enjoyed it!

The only bad thing about boating in the fall is the mosquitoes. There were a ton of them! We were swatting them like crazy and today I found eleven bites just on my left foot. Even with the bugs it turned out to be a great night. It was my dad's birthday on the 9th so after boating we took him to JCW's for dinner. It was a great night. Thanks again dad!

It has been a great month so far and we have our one year wedding anniversary on Saturday! I cannot believe how fast the year has gone. I look forward to celebrating it this weekend up in Park City. We will for sure be posting about that! I am sad that summer is pretty much over, but I love fall it is my favorite season and I am excited for all the holidays coming up!

Within the past little while I have had an Aunt and Uncle pass away. They were both on the Trujillo side of the family. We normally don't get to see that side of the family all too often. Usually it's just during major holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. A few days ago I started to think that I don't even know if I have photographs of either my Aunt Erma or my Uncle Jake, how sad is that. Will I even really remember them or what they look like in 10 years? I certainly hope so but this blog is dedicated to these 2 people. May we always remeber to have photos of family members to always help us remember who they were and how much they meant to us.

My Aunt Erma, she was great and we would ALWAYS get together at her house for family gatherings. Out of everyone on the Trujillo side, she was definitely the glue that held the family together. You will be missed Aunt Erma.

Uncle Jacob

We didn't get to see Uncle Jacob all too often so I didn't have a close relationship with him, but he was very nice, quiet and just kind of kept to himself and went with the flow. Many people at his funeral service mentioned how kind he was and how he would do things for people not wanting any recognition. As anyone who has met me dad, you can see the resemblance in the family very quickly.

We had a family photo taken the other day, while Andy's family was in town.

Brit and I went to my mission (Guadalajara, Mexico) buddies wedding reception. I was happy to see good ol Burt tie the knot. His wife also went to a Spanish speaking mission to Argentina. Congrats guys!

They had come over to our house to watch a world cup game a fdew weeks back and expressed their desire to have a taco stand at their reception. Some other friends that were there told where to go and they made it happen. Great idea guys!

I took down 8 of these puppies. Soooooo good! And very authentic to what we ate during the mission.

Brit went to Carley's shower and had a good time with her friends.

Summer Evening Lightning Storm Photographs

The last few nights there have been off and on lightning/thunder storms around the Salt lake Valley. Tonight was no different so I grabbed my DSLR, set the mode to "S" which I believe means Shutter priority, adjusted the time for the shutter to stay open to about 1 sec and jumped on the roof. It took a long time to snap even one photo but here is what I got after about 30 mins on the roof and minutes on end of waiting patiently with my finger on the trigger.

So there is this jump at a track that I have been wanting to for a while now. It's been my nemesis I guess you could say. Well, I went today and conquered it! I talked a guy there that was doing it and I followed him a time or two just get the speed down. I had a great time and was happy to put my mind to something and accomplish it.

Portland/Troutdale was wonderful. I had never been there before, but have always heard how pretty it is. I was excited to go. We left on Thursday morning and we were pretty excited to see Andy, Rachel and the boys. I love how green it is there. The scenery is amazing. We first stopped at their house. The boys were pretty excited when we got there, they peeked out of the blinds upstairs then came out with big smiles on their faces. They are so cute. I was excited to meet their new addition little Parker Dee. He is so cute and I'm so sad that I didn't get any pictures of him. He is a great baby. Then we ate some lunch then headed up to Mt. Hood. Ben and Andy first had to stop and get their demo boards for riding the next day. Then we drove to this place:

So amazing! Then we set up some chairs and a table at this little site.

Andy made us a fire to roast us some hot dogs for dinner.

The boys had a blast playing in the river and playing around the fire.

Rachel is the Primary President and had a lot of bottles of crush soda that we needed to drink so she could use them for the father's day gifts. Tayson loved them and couldn't get enough. He is hilarious. And look at his poor eye. That is what brothers are for right!

Benson cooked his hot dog a little too long and was pretty sad about it, luckily we had more hot dogs to roast . Such a cute little sad face.

Then of course we had to pop some popcorn over the fire. I had only tried it once before and it wasn't that great. Andy and Ben did a great job at popping it. It was delicious.

We also roasted some marshmallows and made some smores. It was a very fun night!

Drew and our kits. I decided to demo a 2011 Burton Sherlock 154. It's one of their "Flying V" decks. Which basically means it has Rocker and Camber (Peep them HERE then click on "campaigns" and then "Take a stance"). I actually liked it and would probably run one. Drew ran an Oh Eleven Easy Livin that is 100% reverse camber. We both could feel the difference and it took some getting used to.

Back to Brit.

While the boys were snowboarding I hung out with Rachel and the boys. We went to the craft store to get some stuff for Andy's Father's Day Gift. We got some frames and some ribbon. Then when we got back home the weather was nice so I blew up their pool while Rachel printed some letters off for the gift. Before the boys could get in the pool we had to take pictures. We took a picture of each boy. One held #1 the next held a D then the next held an A then we took a picture of Parker with another D. The pictures turned out great. The boys then got their swimsuits on and I filled up the pool for them. The pool was pretty cold and it took them awhile to adjust to it. Benson was pretty funny he didn't want to get his shorts wet and when they did he wanted to go get his other swim shorts on. I told him that his shorts were suppose to get wet in the pool. So he decided to keep the ones he had on.

They had a lot of fun in the pool. With a few here and there cries from being pinched or splashed they are some funny cute little boys.

After Rachel and I went to the grocery store to get some groceries and print off the pictures that we took. They turned out great!

The next day we took the boys to see Toy Story 3. They were pretty excited to go see it. Benson brought his Woody. He loved the movie. His eyes were glued to the screen he didn't want any candy that we would offer him, or popcorn. Ben put his hand in some and he didn't move.

Loggan brought his cheetah, he couldn't find his Buzz Lightyear. He loved the movie as well. Tayson ate most of the bag of gummy worms before the movie even started. He sure does love his sugar. The movie was excellent. They did a great job on making a third movie.

After the movie we went to Multnomah Falls. It is amazing!

We hiked up a little bit to the bridge. I loved it. You can keep hiking up to the very top. Which I would love to do some day!

That night Ben and I went down town to walk around. Ben spotted a festival going on. So we started walking towards that. Once we got closer Ben realized that it was for Gay Pride. So we turned around. We walked around for awhile and couldn't find a place we could agree on to eat. It probably doesn't help that I'm picky :) We then went home and got this picture on the drive home.

Sunday morning we woke up to Loggan sitting by our door. He was the only one awake. Ben told him to come lay with him and he said he wanted some cereal. He is so cute. We all got ready for church and while Andy was getting ready we put the pictures in the frames. I think the gift turned out great and loved the ribbon Rachel picked out to hang them with. I had so much fun and I wish we could have stayed longer. Since they live up there I didn't really know them that well, and really enjoyed getting to know them all a little bit more. We miss you a lot already and wish we were closer to you, but we will for sure come back and visit! And we can't wait to see you in a month!

Also before Portland we went and celebrated my brother's birthday at Texas Road House. For birthdays they make them sit on a saddle. Jack was pretty confused at what was going on and when they yelled YEEHAW! Jack didn't like it too much.

Poor little guy!

There was another party and once again when they yelled YEEHAW! Jack started crying. It was sad, but kind of funny. Love that little boy. We then went to their house and had cake and ice cream. We were glad we got to celebrate with him! One more year and he will be the big 30!

Also today my sister Brooke came up to Snowbird. My mom gave her a gift card for her to come up to the Bird and get some treatments from me for her Birthday. She decided to get a cut, color and a pedicure. We were pretty much the only ones in the Spa. It is pretty dead right now. So that was fun. She decided she wanted some highlights. And as we were walking out after the treatments I took a picture of her hair I didn't get a picture of her toes though.

She said she loves it and I think it turned out great. Now Brooke is the Dark Blond hair of the family. My mom will be so glad that she has a daughter with light hair again :)

The Latest Happenings...

It has been awhile since I (Brittany) have updated our blog and Ben has been wanting me to do so. So here I am. We don't have much pictures to post so I thought I would just write about our latest happenings. Last month we had a ping pong party with friends at our house. It was fun to have friends over at our house. The boys were pretty serious about ping pong and the girls didn't even play and poor little Gavin wanted to play so bad, but luckily with my Disney movie collection we distracted him with Jungle Book. It was fun to catch up with friends that we hadn't seen for awhile. Next time we have a ping pong party I will have to take some pictures and some videos. I use to be so good at taking pictures of everything and now I am horrible.

After only gone to our new ward twice we already got asked to give a talk. So three weeks later we talked in our ward. I talked on Home: A Refuge and A Sanctuary. Ben talked on Draw Near Unto Christ. It was nice to not have the same topic so we didn't have to worry about saying the same thing. I think it went pretty well. I have a hard time talking in front of a lot of people and usually talk really fast, but I think I did pretty well on talking slower. Ben did a great job. And I loved hearing his talk. We also had Ben's Mom, Mark, and Amy come listen. It was nice to have their support there. We really appreciate them.
Well Ben said within two weeks we would get a new calling. He was right, two weeks later (which was this past Sunday) we got a new calling. They came and pulled us out of Sunday School. They said they didn't want to separate us. So we are the new CTR 6 Primary teachers. We then met the Primary President and sat with our new class. They are cute kids and I am excited for this calling. I have always loved teaching Primary.

The end of May Ben's Aunt Erma (his dad's sister) passed away after having a stroke. We went and visited her at the hospital before she passed. I had only met her a couple of times, but she was a wonderful lady from what I saw. She loved her family. She seemed to be the one to get every one together for the Holidays. She will be missed by many. Ben and I were only able to make it to her viewing and rosary. I have really only been to a funeral that has been held at an LDS chapel so it was interesting to see how another religion does things. I had no idea what they did in a Rosary. Then one of her grand-daughters gave a little tribute. She did a great job. Click Here to see her Obituary.

On Memorial Day we were going to go camping so I had taken the day off. We ended up not going so we decided to do some yard work. We first painted our picnic table that was left in the backyard.
A couple weeks ago Ben's Grandpa gave us some rocks to put in as stepping stones. On the right side of the house we don't get much sun. We didn't want to put grass in so we wanted to do stepping stones. It was a lot of work putting them in. Luckily my dad had come to help with yard work and helped finish putting them in. I think it looks great. Thanks Dad for helping!

We also decided to have a BBQ at our house. It was kind of last minute thing and we were glad that we were able to get some family and some friends to come. Ben's mom is great at putting things together. She brought a volleyball net and some other games. She also brought a fun tablecloth for the picnic table. All day it was cloudy and luckily the sun came out for the BBQ and we sat under our apple tree. The food was delicious and we had a lot of fun. We played volleyball, it was boys against girls. The girls didn't do very well, but we had a blast! And the final score was pretty close, but the boys did win. Shaffer also brought his new remote control car and Ben built a jump where our garden will be. They had a blast with that. It was a fun night and hope we have more barbecues this summer. We also went to Kylee and Brickelle's Dance recital which makes me miss dancing and performing. Ben wants me to get back in it, but I don't know if I have the flexibility to do it anymore. We went to Mulligan's with Travee and Claudia and hit a bucket of balls and did the batting cages as well. Claudia and I did softballs and the boys did baseballs. I was pretty sore the next day and it was pretty hard to do some pedicures at work. For some reason my palm was extremely sore! We also had a little astrology lesson with my dad. We tried using Brickelle's telescope, but we needed a battery so we just used my dad's laser pointer. Cole was more interested in that then the stars. I love summer nights and look forward to looking through the telescope some more. We have had some fun times and can't wait to do more stuff outside with Summer finally here! I love warm weather!

Well a week from tomorrow we will be going up to Portland to visit Ben's Brother Andy, Rachel, and the boys. We are excited to go up there and hang out with them and meet the new addition Parker. Can't wait to see you all!

Just a few pics and videos for a quick update. We have settled into our house nicely. We love it and are making progress every day in certain areas around the house.

UPDATE

So we have officially been in our house for 3 weeks now (man it has gone by fast). We have been busy just about every day doing stuff on the yard, washer drier, basement, organizing. But it has been great to do those simple things on our own place. My parents have come over twice now and they were a big help with the yard. My mom really enjoys doing yard work (not sure why) so she was in her element outside.

We had a ton of these lava type rocks in the yard so we put them to good use.

Now that's only 1/2 the pile we cut down between the two days. Anyone know of a yard guy that will haul these away for me? Help!

We pruned the rose bushes, put these rocks in, put in some of those solar landscape lights, pruned the tree and took out a whole shrub at the end. (if you look at our old post you can see the "before" picture.

We got the picture frames and mirror up on the wall, I think it turned out pretty good.

My most recent acquisition is this table tennis table (only rookies call it a ping pong table) hopefully it will bring us some fun. Who's got game? Bring it on.

I think this was our first official dinner at our house, I took a pic w/o Brit knowing that's why the back of her head in in the photo. She is a good cook and takes good care of me.

OTHER HAPPENINGS

Yesterday (sat) I was able to go to The Bird in the morning and get a good spring session in. It was pretty warm and really sunny and the conditions were fun. I had a good time. After I went and saw Brit in the salon for a sec, then went swimming, went to the eucalyptus sauna, showered and shaved, it was nice! After that I came home and my parents came over and we did said yard work. We then all went to In n Out for dinner. It was a pretty darn good day.

Other recent happenings are; Brit and I went to my mission reunion over conference weekend. My mission pres is now an area 70 in Columbia thus is comes to Salt lake every year or two. It was great to go see him and hear him speak. I love him and he is a great man. And it was great to take my wife with me, finally!

I was also able to race the 1st race of the season at Rocky Mtn Raceway. I moved up and entered into the over 30 Pro class (yikes!) You race twice throughout the night and I took 3rd both times for 3rd overall for the night. It was pretty good and I had a good time, although I didn't leave the track until 1:15 AM Sat. morning!

I also was able to take Cole snowboarding a while back. We went to the Bird one night for some night boarding on their kiddie lift (chickidee) He did a pretty good job but there is for a sure a difference between him and Brickelle. All he wanted to do was head straight to this little jump we found and hit it. Not practice on his technique or form or anything, just the Jump. Here is a photo and a video.

The salt lake supercross is this weekend so it will be fun to go that with Brit.

So as many of you probably already know Brit and I bought a house and finally moved in 1 week ago. It has been a long time coming (probably 7 months or so) and we have had some trials throughout the process but we feel very lucky and blessed to be able to buy a house. It is a buyers market with rates being low, housing being in general being down and we were able to get the 8,000 tax credit so that will be nice. Here are some photos (finally) for you all to see to check out our sweet pad. It's about 4 blocks North of Jordan Landing in West Jordan so the location is nice being close to all of the stores and restaurants.

We also were able to celebrate Easter last week, it was a busy weekend as we moved all of the big stuff on Saturday and finalized the move in. But we had a lot of help from my great friends and family. It's great to have friends that all ride dirt bikes cause everyone has a truck! Thanks again to everyone that helped. We had an easter egg hunt at Brit's Parents sunday morning. It was really fun and Brit killed it bringing in a cool 95 bucks in all of the eggs she gathered. We then had a great lunch in between conference sessions. After we went to Jen and trav's and had a hunt their with the Dyers and my mom, step-dad and Amy. We had a great time with them too and all in all we had a great Easter weekend.

This week we pretty much just spent it getting stuff ready for the house. I spent every making minute I had running around trying to get something with the house. It was stressful but fun at the same time. I now realize there really is always something to do on the house, especially when it is a 25 yr old house.

Friday night my Dad came over to the house with the Dyers. It was great to have them over and we went to eat at Jordan Landing. I really have to thank my sister Jen for all of her help with decorating and helping with the house, she has a knack for that stuff and I think she really enjoys it.

My parents came over Sat. night and we too went out to eat at Famous Dave's in Jordan Landing. It too was good have them over and show them our new house.

Today Brit and I had the opportunity the speak in the ward in Sandy before we officially start to attend out new ward in West Jordan. I thought both of us did a pretty good job. It was a great ward and we will miss it a lot. The ward was very supportive and it was great having an apostle in our home ward, we will miss it.

Brit and I had a pretty good Valentine's weekend. We hung out with Travee and Claudi on Friday night and watched the opening ceremonies and had some Mexican food. Saturday we went out to dinner together to chilli's we went a little bit later which was actually nice because there was only a 10 minute wait. We got each other some fun gifts too. Brit got me a sweet pair of nice Smith I/O goggles, and I got J-lo oh I mean Brit a nice pair of sunglasses.

A few weeks back we went to St. George with A-bag, Krid, Trav, Brickelle, Cole, Brit and I.

About 3 weeks ago Brits family had a condo up at The Bird for a week. We stayed up there almost every night. It was really nice and relaxing hittin up the spa just about every night and having friends come up and hang out.

A quick post on the last few weeks. With Christmas, my b-day, New Years and everything else there was plenty to post about.

I have been able to go up to The Bird a few times in the past few weeks. They have a tunnel there they opened a few years back to access the back side of the Mtn. it is nice to go back there because this time of year that's where the sun is shining.

I got a few sweet gifts for Christmas and my B-day. I got hooked up with a Sonicare toothbrush.

One night we were able to head down to Temple Square and see the lights. I got a few cool shots with my camera.

For my B-day we invited a few friends to have dinner at The Rio. I love that place.

Birthday cake, Coley was pretty antsy to blow them out for me, but as you can see there were only two candles. A 3 and a 0 :(
