Portland Vs. Utah

I have decided to list a few reasons of why I like Portland and what I miss most about Utah.
-Portland is so pretty when it is sunny
-close to Andy, Rachy and the boys
-motocross tracks here are sweet
-downtown is really cool, right on the river
-a lot of outdoor activities to do
Utah
- Jen, Trav and the kids
-Friends that I made there
-snowboard scene
-going to the motocross track with Trav, Aaron and Kelly
-my ward and all the members
-the people I home taught

So those were just a few thought I had that I wanted to share.
I recently bought a Garmin GPS System. I just barley got it in the mail yesterday and got to play with it a little today driving around. I feel like I am getting the hang of things as far as not getting too last around the city. But I am glad I got it, just one less thing I have to worry about.

Andy and I got some stuff from Burton off their Pro-form and we got it all yesterday, when we got home there were 4 boxes just waiting for us. I am pretty excited for the season. I got a bag, UnInc snowboard, pants, Hoodie and a T-shirt. Here is a photo of some of the goodies.

I also am pretty sure I have found an apt. I got hooked up with another lds kid that is looking for a place, his name is Nick. Probably not the first cat I would chose to go hang with but he seems nice and clean enough. "Ben, I really commit to keeping that commons area clean on my part" Which by him saying Commons Area I guess he means the living room???? I think he has told me this statement about 6 times now. But at any rate the Apt is about 5 mins S of where Andy is so that should be good.

We also went to Multnomah (?) falls over the weekend and to some lookout point over the river. Pretty Cool.

I am also trying to set up a Lake Tahoe boarding trip for this season. Probably some time in Late Jan. Paul and I went last year and had a great time. Hopefully it will work out OK. Southwest has great deals right now so I will probably fly in and meet whoever ends up going in Reno. Can't wait.

Lastly I bought a Laser pointer for work purposes and was playing with it when I got it out of the packaging and decided to show it to the boys. I know it;s a little mean but Tayson was trying really hard to get it. The other two were more on the casual side but Tayson really put forth a good effort to try and get it. Watch the video.

Part of my setup for this year.

It's the Weekend!!!

I was really looking forward to this Saturday, work on Thursday and Friday were pretty hectic so I was looking forward to some rest and relaxation. Friday night I went out on the town with my new "season pass friend". We went to get some grub at the California pizza kitchen just south of Lake Oswego, and then hit up a movie. We had some time to kill between dinner and the movie so we walked around the shopping center. (It reminded me of the gateway, outdoors with nice shops) We hit up Urban Outfitters, I had never been in that store before. I had heard about it but never gone in. I really liked the stuff they have. Cool/different t-shirts, hoodies, track jackets, etc. After we went and saw Dan In Real Life with Steve Carell, the guy from The Office. http://www.fandango.com/videos/v335738

The movie was really good, I would for sure recommend it to anyone who wants to see a good movie.

Saturday I was planning on heading back to the outdoor track in Sandy called Mtn View. But this morning I decided to look on the Washougal Motocross Track web site, http://www.washougalmxpk.com/ they ended up being open today for their last practice of the year. So I figured what the heck I have heard so much about the track and gone their to see Ricky and Bubba battle it out, but had never been there to ride it myself. I figured it would be fun to ride the same track I saw the Pros ride on.

I went and had a great time. It was pretty crowded and they had 6 different practice classes. I stayed for 3 different practice sessions and had a pretty darn good time, although the track didn't really have any good size jumps, the track was the roughest track I have EVER RIDDEN, and the face of the one decent sized jump was rutted to the point that your pegs drug up the face of the jump. I only tried it once and that was enough for me. But I did have a good time, the dirt was awesome, had track flaggers for safety, and the place was ran very efficinetly . I think I will stick woth Mtv View in the future I had a really good time there a few weeks ago. But I am really glad I went and got to experience Washougal. Following are a few photos.

Tonight we went to a ward party for Andy's ward at a members house, we had food, mingled and played bingo. And yes I won a $5 card to Coldstone! Anyone up for an ice cream date? It was good to meet a few other memebers around the area.

This Week

10/22-10/25

This week has been a good one. Work has been steadily busy. Yesterday Andy ended up having to head to Medford for a Pegasus case with a new Dr., so I went to three cases around the city. It was a long exhausting day. My legs and feet were pretty spent by the end of the day. I was able to meet up with a kid that the EQ Pres in the singles ward here hooked me up with. He too was looking for a roomate/apartment. We ended up meeting this week and went to look at 2 apts to rent. He is an average guy but too be nice I will just say that he is diferent. Today I met up with a girl after work that I contacted through the Mt Hood website. You see they have a 4 x 400 deal. Meaning if you get 4 people together you can get a season pass each for $400, which is a pretty good deal. So on skihood.com they have a discussion board that you can find other to group up with. I did so, and she called me. We hooked up today and she ends up being from North Ogden and LDS, small world. Anyways we got our passes and are set to go for the season. Tomorrow is another busy day with cases all day. The rest of the week is supposed to be nice as today was, so Saturday I am planning on going back to mtn view mx track, I am really looking forward to it. www.mtnviewmx.com Today was a really nice day so I snapped a photo of downtown and the river while passing by on the bridge, sorry but there was construction so it's not this best photo. Some more random photos.

Loggan had a long day and bounce bounce bounced himself to sleep.
Coley trying to his best impression of either an "evenin Ma'am" or a "Howdy Partner" I wasn't quite sure.
Tells and I at a single adult activity back in Sandy, we were both super sticky afterwards

Tells sliding down the Jello slip and slide
Tells' first time on the snowboard one night last season at Brighton, she did a great job! (she forgot her gloves and had to use mine)

October 20

This week was a pretty good one. It was pretty busy with work, going to cases, visiting Dr's offices, etc. Yesterday and today (Sat) Andy and I had a Region 7 Podiatry conference downtown that we attended. One of the companies we represent (BME=Bio medical Enterprise) had a booth and the Regional mngr, Jen came into town to set up a booth. They speicalize in a compression staple. I's basically a staple to you use in the foot when you have a Pt with a fracture or a joint you want to fuse. In short, you drill small holes in the bone, insert the staple and "zap" it with a bi=polar current with a small handle that has 2 probes and the staple legs compress wtogether thus putting pressure on the fracture so it can heal. Phew! So we went there to help her out. The display she brought and put up was nice. We talked to a lot of Dr's we already knew, and got a few more cases out of it. It was a good weekend. It is cool to see how many good relationships Andy has with alot of the Dr's in the state. We then went down one block and a big snowboard/ski store was having a big sale and a snowboard rail contest. It was cool to see a lot of the pros that you normally don't see in SLC. Here are a few photos and vidoes of the event. And I wanted to get a photo of the BME booth but forgot....
Photo 1- the whole set up they had in an alley way by the US outdoor store. 2-"The dingo and is partner ammouning the comp. 3-MFM 4-Travee will appreciate this one, a kid we know named Spencer was there, he had one good trick but a few not so good ones, can anyone say fashion show? Video- Magoon killing it. So smooth.

Whips

Ok so I was on my way home a few days ago from a town called Hermiston driving on I-84. Hermiston is about a 2 1/2 hr drive. I went there for a case with a Dr. On my way home these 3 fellas passed by. Two are Lamborhgini's and I think I saw the Maseratti Emblem on the white one, but I have never seen a car like it before. Looks pretty darn cool. Kind of like a F1 (Formula 1) race car.

This Week

I was able to go to a Motocross track on Saturday. It is called Mtn View MX. I was kind of contemplating whether or not to go seeing that saturday morning here at the house it was really foggy and a little on the chilly side. I decided to go and am sure glad I did, once I left the city limits it cleared up and was blue skies and warm temps doe the rest of the day. For sure the nicest day since my arrival here to porltand. Really fun track, great dirt and traction. A lot of elevation changes and scenic landscape with the track weaving in and out of the trees.

Preview of Halloween Costumes

Just 2 quick photos I took for a preview of Tayson and Benson's Halloween costumes. Tayson is a Caterpillar. Soooo cute, and Benson is an Octupus, although I think he may be a little too big so we made need to switch his with another. I have never seen an Octopus with red socks before.....

Saturday Indoor Motocross Sesh.

Well today I really wanted to ride a track up here. The weather has been pretty cold for this time of year, the high has been around 55-60. The outdoor track that is apparently really close to the house was closed today due to the weather, so I was debating whether or not I should make the trek all the way across town to the indoor track named HindsightMX, check there website here http://www.hindsightmx.com/service.htm It is 35 bucks to register for the year and you get your first ride for free. The most I have paid to practice has been $20 in mesquite. So 35 is a lot just to practice! But I had nothing else going on so I figured what the heck. I didn't really know what to expect it being an indoor track, I was thinking it would be REALLY tight and slow but I am really glad I went. I had a great time, I rode in 2nd gear the whole track and actually felt really good on my bike for not riding for a few weeks. I ended up taking everything on the track my third moto. It is a really fun track, a few good size jumps and the dirt and traction was awesome!

Here are two photos of the entire track, and a video of it as well.
